PTO Council Community Forum on Special Education

In 2006, the Newton PTO Council sponsored a community forum on the topic of Special Education in the Newton School System. The forum, presented twice (in November and December) featured a number of presentations, followed by questions and answers with the audiences. Several of the presentations made on those evenings are available as PowerPoint files:

  • Diagnostic Groups and Eligibility, by Stephanie Powers, Assistant Director for Pupil Services, on diagnostic groups and eligibility
  • Current Programs, by Margie Daniels, Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services, on current programs
  • Finances, by Sandra Guryan, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance

In addition, NewTV was able to tape the second evening and aired the program over the next several months.
